The Hispanic Association on Corporate Responsibility Announces the Results of its 2007 Corporate Governance Study.
Hispanics remain seriously underrepresented in corporate boardrooms across the United States, according to HACR’s newly released corporate governance study. The study determined that Hispanics make up 14% of the United States population, and make up only 3.1% of all fortune 500 board seats. More facts concerning Latinas in the corporate boardroom include:

• Hispanic women held 0.8% of all Fortune 500 company seats in 2006
• Latinas represented 25% of Hispanic Directors in 2006, compared to 12% a decade ago.
• Nine of the 31 Hispanic women directors, in 2006, served on more than one Fortune 500 board.

The American Red Cross Offers Free Online on How to be Prepared for Natural Disasters.
According to a recent study released by the American Red Cross and Harris Interactive, only 7% of the United States population is adequately prepared for a natural disaster or emergency. With hurricane season lasting from June 1st to November 30th, the Red Cross has released a free online tutorial on how to be prepared and remain safe in the event of a natural disaster. The tutorial covers in detail how to execute three steps the Red Cross recommends to stay safe.

Latin Alternative Music Conference
The Latin Alternative Music Conference will take place July 10-14, 2007 in New York City. LAMC is made up of five days filled with events including various panels and musical showcases. The conference will conclude Saturday night with a closing party at the Cooper Hewitt Museum.

Artists featured throughout LAMC will include Grammy nominated Puerto Rican Rock ensemble Circo, Spain’s The Pinker tones, Mexico’s Zoé, and Puerto Rican rapper La Sista.

New York International Latino Film Festival
The 8th annual New York International Film Festival will take place this summer on July 24- 29, 2007 in New York City. The festival features over 80 domestic and international films, documentaries, and shorts. NYILFF will open with Trade, a film about international human trafficking, and conclude five days

later with El Cantante, a film exploring the life of legendary salsa star Hector Lavoe. With events such as “Cinema Under the Stars”, “Dominican Night,” and “NYILFF Family Day” the festival aims to target a wide variety of audiences.

Chembo
“For the Rest of Your Life”
Wilson “Chembo” Corniel released his second CD, “For the Rest of Your Life”, in June 2007. Raised in Brooklyn NY, Chembo grew up practicing music and studying under several jazz legends, including Tommy Lopez Sr. and "Little Ray" Romero. The Puerto Rican percussionist is the leader of a quintet group, “Grupo Chaworó.” Percussionist/Singer Grady Tate is also featured throughout the album, adding vocal accents to the lively jazz sounds.

This album showcases an innovative harmony between conventional Jazz and traditional Latin rhythms including mambo, rumba de cajón, guaguancó, bomba and bolero.

Ingrid Hoffmann
“Simply Delicioso”
This July, Colombian born, Ingrid Hoffman will present “Simply Delicioso”, a Latin themed half- hour series on the Food Network. Featuring recipes such as Tilapia Pockets with Cilantro-lemongrass Mojo, Tamarind Glazed Baby Back Ribs, and Raspberry Lemon Margaritas, the show invites a wide range of audiences to explore adding Latin flairs to the everyday foods they crave. Hoffman will be the first host ever to have two shows in two languages, on two different networks. “Simply Delicioso” premiers on the Food Network on Saturday, July 14th at 11:30 a.m. ET/PT. Don’t miss it!

Malusa Rios
Malusa Rios is a Founder of Teaching HOPE. The program is dedicated to assisting orphaned youth in the transition from childhood to independent adulthood. Rios explained the mission of the program is, “to provide vocational training, teach life skills, and most importantly create a network of caring adults who will be available to the children after they leave institutional care.” Teaching HOPE was recently incorporated in January 2007.
