Presidente Obama Inicia Programa de Prácticas en la Casa
Blanca
El Presidente Obama hoy dio
inicio al Programa de Prácticas de la Casa Blanca (White House Internship
Program) de su gobierno y anunció que se están aceptando solicitudes para el
verano del 2009. Las personas escogidas para participar en el programa
obtendrán valiosa experiencia laboral y una mejor perspectiva de la vida del
personal de la Casa Blanca, y a la vez desarrollarán dotes de líder.
“Con este programa se
asesorará y promoverá el desarrollo profesional de los jóvenes líderes de hoy y
mañana, y es un orgullo para mí que tengan esta oportunidad para prestar
servicio”, dijo el Presidente Obama. “Estoy deseoso de trabajar con
quienes se seleccione para participar y quiero felicitar a todos los que
postulen por su deseo de ayudar, por medio del servicio público, a forjar un
futuro más brillante para nuestro país”.
Además de los usuales
deberes de oficina, los practicantes complementarán su aprendizaje al asistir
semanalmente a una serie de conferencias ofrecidas por miembros del personal de
la Casa Blanca, ayudarán en eventos sociales en la Casa Blanca y trabajarán
como voluntarios en proyectos de servicio a la comunidad.
El programa de prácticas
para el verano del 2009 será del 22 de mayo al 14 de agosto, y el plazo para
postularse es hasta el 22 de marzo, 2009.
Los postulantes al Programa
de Prácticas de la Casa Blanca deben:
• Ser ciudadanos
de Estados Unidos
• Haber cumplido
18 años de edad el primer día de su práctica o antes.
• Haberse
matriculado en una universidad o institución de enseñanza superior (de 2 a 4
años), o haberse graduado de la universidad en los últimos dos años.
Se asignará a los
practicantes a una oficina departamental. A continuación se encuentra una lista
de los departamentos de la Oficina del Presidente y la Oficina del
Vicepresidente a los que se asignará a los practicantes.

President Obama Launches White House Internship Program
President Obama today launched the White House Internship
Program for his administration and
announced that applications are currently being accepted for the summer of
2009. Those selected to participate in the program will gain valuable job
experience and an inside look at the life of White House staff while building
leadership skills.
“This program will mentor and cultivate young
leaders of today and tomorrow and I’m proud that they will have this
opportunity to serve,” said President Obama. “I look forward
to working with those that are selected to participate and I want to commend
all who apply for their desire to help through public service to forge a
brighter future for our country.”
In addition to normal office duties, interns will
supplement their learning experience by attending a weekly lecture series
hosted by senior White House staff, help at White House social events, and
volunteer in community service projects.
The 2009 Summer Internship program runs from May 22
to August 14, and the submission deadline is March 22, 2009.
Those interested in applying to the White House
Internship Program must be:
• US Citizens
• Eighteen years of age on
or before the first day of the internship.
• Enrolled in a college or
university (2-4 year institution) or must have graduated from college in the
past two years.
Interns will be placed in a departmental office for
their internship. Below is a list of departments in the Office of the President
and the Office of the Vice President where interns could be placed.
