About the
Instructor
Carina Losano has studied ballet in the USA
(at the Maryland Youth Ballet) and in Argentina
(at the Alfredo Gurquel’s studio and with Estela
Erman).
She has assisted the Masters of the Show
“Tango Argentino” Juan Carlos Copes, Eduardo
Arquimbau, Gloria and Rodolfo Dinzels and Carlos
Rivarola (choreographer of the movie “Tango” with
J.C.Copes) and has studied with tango dancers
Gustavo Naveira, Fabian Salas and Graciela
Gonzales, among others.
Her accomplishments include teaching
Madonna for her role in “Evita”, and designing
dances for the movie with the choreographer
Vincent Paterson (Michael Jackson’s Bad Tour and
Madonna’s Blond Ambition Tour).
Carina has also co-choreograph, the last
“Pepsi” commercial starring “Shakira,” with
Vincent Paterson. This commercial was directed by
Joe Pytka, and was “viewed on air” for the first
time at the night of the Oscars, in March of 2003.
In the Washington DC area, she performed at
the Kennedy Center and the Wolf Trap with
Quintango. Carina had received awards and mentions
like “Golden Obelisk”, “Teacher of Milongueros”,
“Young Generation of Milongueros” and “Dedication
to Tango”, awarded by Juan Carlos Copes.
She had also represented “Solo Tango” -a TV
channel from Buenos Aires only dedicated to the
promotion of Tango- in the International
Exposition of the Cable TV Industry for three
consecutive years, and has obtained the first
prize in the Championship Hugo del Carril in 1997.
For a complete understanding of tango
culture, Carina studied History, Poetry and
Sociology of Tango at the Tango University, with
the most important researchers and journalist of
Tango like Jose Gobello, Héctor Negro, Oscar del
Priore and Roberto
Selles. |
